It's been almost a month since I moved to this new house with some friends of mine.   Tons of things have been happening, including new better jobs and more social stuff.  I'm proud to have been AFK for a crapton more time than I used to.  I guess it did fit perfectly when we named our house "Save Point."  I guess it's a new stage.  I wish real life told you what stage you're on.   On a side note, I could've gone for "Ortega Supreme" though.  But I guess the joke fizzles when it's explained.  (Ortega St.  + obscure Transformers reference.)

Oh and hey, I'm also on tumblr.  That's been my sketch dump lately.  A word of warning:  I might post sketches with boobs in it.

Sursiest Bursday

Wow.  My last journal entry was way back in July.  Anyway, I finally hit 30 last Dec. 7.  Thanks so much to everyone who dropped a greeting here.  I appreciate it.  Sorry if I wasn't able to reply to everyone.

And yup.  That title is a reference to "Birthday Cake" by Cibo Matto.

2010 Retrospective

First year in San Francisco, and my second year in California ever since I left for Chicago back in 2004.  I kinda love it here so far.  I don't miss the snow at all. This weather allows me to run regularly almost everyday even in winter.

I also learned a few recipes this year.  Kalbi and braised beef.  Can't believe how cheap and easy it is to braise meat.  

Oh and I finally beat a lot of video games in my collection.  I'm still trying to digest the information overload that is MGS4.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Lucked out on an advanced screening ticket last Monday when I got book 6 from Comix Experience's midnight launch event.  I also got lucky that I was one of the last people admitted into the theater. The place was packed and there were so much more people that were given advanced screening passes than they could accomodate.  Glad to say that for me, at least, the movie was spot-on even if there was some minor differences from the books. I even wanna see it again.

I've been running more these days, thanks to the nice SF weather so far.  I've been learning how to run more on my toes rather than on my heels.  Proves to be faster and more energy efficient.

AC2 -----

I liked the AC2 ending way better than AC1.  Answered so many questions while wrapped up so much too.  Reminds me of Erich Von Daniken books I've loved when I was a kid.  That internal mythology is  so rich and I hope they reveal more in AC3.

I've been watching / listening  to a lot of Revision3 shows lately.  Can't stop snickering at The Totally Rad Show's 80s flashback episode.

Gurren Lagann

Aeons late to the party, I finally got to see Gurren Lagann last weekend at J-town.  And I totally agree.  That is the manliest anime ever.  And the best thing is that it never took itself seriously.

New Yeared

Happy New Year to everyone! Been a relatively good year for me and I hope it was for everyone too.  My NYE celebration this year has been quite sober compared to the other ones before.  Just having a single glass of beer and hanging out with friends in this freezing weather.  It's a far cry from that one year when I got so drunk I spilled beer on my tablet and rolled on the carpet while eating pork rinds.  Not sure if that's entirely factual, but the beer on the tablet thing is definitely true.

Objectified

Watching Objectified was a pure treat.  Not just because of the return of El Ten Eleven's awesome music, but I guess hearing people talk about industrial design is fun for me.  Makes me wish I took up Industrial Design back in college.  Or at least makes me wish I hung out with the people from that course.

San Franciscoed

Screw this winter.  I'm moving out with roommate *scrotumnose to San Francisco a couple of weeks from now.  I guess it's also an easy excuse to blast "California" covered by Mates of State while we're moving.  Now I could finally see Mountain View again, which was where I got my first apartment and first job here in the states. I'll definitely get a bratwurst from the Japanese couple's hotdog stand in the Mountain View Caltrain station.  If they're still there.  It's been six years since I've had that food for breakfast.

Also been watching Detroit Metal City.  That scene where Krauser "rapes" Tokyo Tower is pure genius.

Welcome to the N.H.K.

I've been interested in the subject of social withdrawal/ lately, since I seem to have been in the brink of being a shut-in these past few years.   Or maybe I am.  Probably a mild case.  But I guess it's all part of freelancing from home on top of being a workaholic.  I remember seeing a bit of hikikomori in "Sayonara Zetsobou Sensei", and watched the finely crafted short film "Shaking Tokyo".  And "Welcome to the N.H.K." has been my fave so far.  It does seem like a good mix of light and dark sides of being recluse.  

Steam Sale

Man.  Chicago has been sludge city these past few weeks.  Everytime I pop out It's wet snow.   And that's why it's been a great week to stay in and stay warm with some video games.  And Steam's been having great deals these past few days.  Grabbed Machinarium and Samorost 2  coz that brings me back to the golden age of adventure gaming back in the 90s.  Reminds me so much of Gobliins.  Been thinking of getting L4D2, but I've still got Dragon Age: Origins to finish.

Man.  It's almost 2010.  Almost time for the release date of Mass Effect 2.  I'm kissing my almost non existent social life goodbye.  It's too cold to go outside anyway.  It's been a week and I think I still feel the death germs from my last horrible flu episode still creeping up behind me.


Borderlands

Man.  This game is bringing out the OCD in me.  It seems to be a much shorter game than I think, since *scrotumnose  finished it in around a couple of weeks.  But I keep on getting great loot and I can't resist selling each and every one of these things.  Currently level 33 and probably 3/4 through the game.

Doodles

Been sketching more.  After a long inspirational dry spell, I seem to hit something.  I think it's called caffeine.  Started this collab with my friend Michael and hopefully he'll model it in 3d later on.

Blood

I got the Blood Energy Potion from thinkgeek this week.  Kinda expensive, IMO but I liked the taste.  It didn't have enough caffeine punch as I was hoping it'd have though.  Might get a few for my sister 'coz she likes gross stuff.  I'm making the most out of it by filling up the used Blood packets with red wine.  Now if only I could get an IV tubing...


Borderlands

I've been playing this game too much these past few days.  I got a rare Eridian Cannon, but then it was taken away by an abrupt unscheduled power outage.  880+ damage with unlimited ammo.  All gone.  I managed to kill Mothrakk though.

Haven't been posting much and haven't been streaming lately.  Sorry about that.  Been so tired after job hours.  Got a rare chance to play Borderlands with *scrotumnose this weekend, though.  Sweet diablo-esque fps.  It's a refreshing change of pace from playing too much Torchlight.
